I’m a I’m a black mouth society member I was picked on everybody that had Chiefs in their families one day I got a call and said I visit with you his name was text box he asked me to come to police department I thought well why is this guy called me because did I do something or you know I was actually scared when he actually he asked me to come in and visit him I thought what did I you know I did I actually associated with somebody that did something I was actually scared because he was the chief of police at the time and I went to visit him and he sat me down and yeah they say you’re not in trouble anything but I just want to ask you something so he asked me and he said hey he said he said gives us a lot of thought and yes I’d like to you to become a member of our it Sally gave me a history of how everything how he brought this society with how it was and how the meaning behind it and in English they wanted to bring it back so he actually asked me and I accepted so they took me down to hell marina which they hadn’t introduced us and now to be in nineteen years ago yeah about 19 years ago so I’ve been a member since then now we have 28 members I actually want to move up in a grade so it’s eighth grade society so I want to move up I know there’s two little ones I’m gonna have to kindly get a hold of but I know there’s older people that I have to go through to so but I do want to I do want to move up to the crazy dogs by a grandfather he was a Kitfox Society member it was a black male Society member - from what from what I know of him it was a pretty Stern guy Stern where his stories were you know he didn’t smile too much he didn’t smile very much and he it was he was pretty uh he knew a lot about the traditions and oral histories of our tribe there is a book called what’s that one I’m thinking about it’s a black book kind of yeah that died one by Bowers one of those books in anyways I’d it’s by Alfred Bowers and they talk a lot about my grandpa for dance and you know how he used to he he actually was take care of the after naming bundle that dark tribe there you go talks a lot about for dancers because he was from a speckled eagle clan that arm and dance and there’s not very many so he’d been told all especally those became chicken clan this is the book it’s all here as a social ceremonial organization by Alfred Bowers they talk a lot about my grandpa is his dad Bob temple and his dad cuts a lot of their I was read this every once in a while and it’s kind of getting some stuff so when I get come across different down different people now so well who’s your folks and so I bet sit there and I Drive at night cuz I do have a second job so now I’ll be thinking about something I’ll pull this out and I’ll be like well what if I’m related to this guy so down the line I usually ain’t no finding it in here but I do I am I do take care of the bundles I take care of a real big one that belonged to my grandpa for dance I take care of that and the other one was given to by my arm by my grandma down the line but they’ve all have gone on now so but I take care of that one too so I have I have pretty big responsibilities it was never really you know you know as I was growing up you know like I said they don’t identity it’s a big thing I was always I was kind of always the little guy that always was tough I was active so you know those bundles were in the house so I was always said hey I’m gonna be quiet so that was kicked me out I want to go play but it’s just the fact that you know nobody really ever said anything to me about how you know or what you know all the questions that surround this and nobody was there to say you know hey this is way it is but I know when my grandmother used to doctor my mom’s brother Norman used to when I started I was by about 13 he sat me down and he I said this is what this is about like I said he couldn’t help me from here on out so that’s what I did in a lot of my years and I watched him and I learned a lot from him and he basically told me this is the way things are done this is the way you know there is no other way if this is the way it should be done that’s it this is the way you do it and he was a pretty Stern guy and he taught me a lot but he never said anything about the other think so but I could I asked my mom about it he she just kept saying oh I don’t know you know your grandma yeah grandma kind of you know she knew more about that so as I’m reading this book all the stuff that you know that I guess should have been told to me was in this book and I sit there and I think about it and I was like well you know I didn’t really have grandpa and grandmas to say you know hey let’s do this let’s do that or let me talk to you about this night I didn’t really have too many I was I was growing up I was more uncles and aunts and the backbend you know I like I said identity wasn’t a big thing with me so you know as it was as today you know I can sit there and say well hey I know you I know where you come from you know stuff but I just now do you know it’s it’s it was never it was never a question when I was growing up in this I just it was just never was important when I was growing up you know as you worked in a school system you see all the kids and you know they you know you see all their upbringing you know whose family they belong to you know their backgrounds you know who take where they come from you know and nowadays it’s you know it’s it’s a little different nowadays and doing well now you know I’m little older now so it’s just so uh I just I just know that you know it’s it’s more important to me than it is now well what back was back then
