Watch this interview on YouTubeAs an educator that it was very important to make sure that you were visible in your community you know for those contributions you know um and also letting them know that you know like for example I have um my brother-in-law um named Dr Zayn Rising son he was he was you know once married to my sister and now you know he’s but he still works in the white CH Community you know he you know every now and then he you know kids would go over there and say Hey I was talking to Dr Zayn ryzon and they said that you’re a doctor too and I’m like no okay you know now just call him Mr Fox I’m Mr Fox you know and um and uh and how do you know him Mr Fox you know and I’m like oh my gosh these guys you know and but those con it was just that understanding of you know it would come back to what my dad always said was the only way to remove yourself from this situation is education and having some that background of cultural of who you were and nowadays as we as we talk about it um you know we I tried to teach that cultural piece a lot you know not too much but just in bits and pieces where it’s in the back of their mind when they walk out of my classroom and they and they want to look at that they want to look at it and they kind of want to say hey I went to a Mr Fox I went to a sweat yeah it was hot you know and you know and then they would kind of get talk a little bit more and they would you wait till people kind of got out and they were talking and we prayed and we did this and we yeah you know and it was just different things of um of experience you know with her with the classroom and so you know to sum things up I would have to say that nothing was ever planned in this as we went along you know throughout my whole uh teaching career you know like well I want to talk about this with the lesson it just always come out when you had that moment and I think as a as an administrator when we always talk about and I always see in these School Improvement plans where every teacher will learn about the culture you know and and I think the most important about that the pieace is it has to be from here it has to be from here you know and you want to have that compassion to have that to to teach these kids that and it doesn’t matter where they’re from you know but to understand that culture
