Teacher Preparation Including the NDNAEU with Carmelita Lamb
Watch this interview on YouTubeI think that if that could be embedded in the way that our teachers are prepared it would make a huge stride because there at that moment when they are in teacher preparation is probably when they’re going to be the most impressionable and can just think for a moment what it would be like to see an entire class of teachers graduated from the state of North Dakota out of the 12 institutions in our state who prepare teachers of which four of them are tribal colleges all preparing teachers imagine if you will how it would be if those students all graduated in May all having extensive training in what essential understandings truly is and how it can make a difference so as far as being able to embed that into a curriculum you know just think of all the methods courses where this type of information easily is relevant I would applaud any type of momentum in that direction because I think that we can only generate teachers that are much more prepared for our classrooms then having not you know it’s just like any way that we can influence them at that like I said that very impressionable stage you know they’re gaining all these skills they haven’t been brought into the broader profession where things are going to be bombarded upon them you know with regard to accountability and responsibility you know and I always tell my students when they’re in their senior years that enjoy your graduation celebrate go to the lake have a great time in June in July sit down and start writing lessons in July because then in September when it’s time to begin you can absorb all the logistics of the building which is what that onboarding is but you have a whole pocketful of wonderful lessons to begin you’ll be much less stressed you know imagine that would be if it included this extra support well I applaud you both for all the hard work that you’re doing just know that I’m a big supporter of it because I think that at every juncture that we can come to that truth the much better our students will be I’m all about what we can do for our students you know and this is one thing that we can do so thank you for having me
