The ND & SD Indigenous Learning Assistant is published by Dr. Scott Simpson to support educators with culturally grounded lesson planning, inquiry, reflection, and professional learning. These terms apply to use of this plugin alongside the applicable terms of the platform through which you access it.
Cost and platform access
The publisher requires no payment or purchase to use this plugin. ChatGPT availability, account requirements, usage limits, and any platform charges are determined by the platform provider. Availability in a country does not guarantee access to every linked resource.
Educational judgment and verification
AI-generated responses may contain errors, omissions, inaccurate citations, or unsuitable recommendations. Review lesson plans before classroom use. Check standards, quotations, translations, video links, and cultural details against the cited sources. The assistant does not replace educators, fluent language speakers, Elders, or relevant community authorities.
Respect for Indigenous voices and knowledge
Preserve the names, community affiliations, context, and source credits provided with resources. Do not attribute generated words to an Elder or present an AI interpretation as a community’s authoritative position. Publication of a historical account does not establish permission to reenact ceremonies, reproduce restricted knowledge, or disregard community protocols. Respect any stated seasonal, audience, or cultural restrictions.
Reference materials and attribution
Reference materials retain their respective ownership, credits, and license conditions. Inclusion in the plugin does not transfer copyright or grant a blanket license to redistribute the entire collection. Follow each source’s permissions, including attribution, noncommercial, or share-alike requirements where applicable. Historical terminology and perspectives must be understood in their original context.
Your inputs and outputs
Only provide content you are authorized to use, and protect student and community privacy. Rights in your inputs and generated outputs are governed by applicable law and the relevant platform terms. These terms do not expand rights in underlying third-party materials.
Appropriate use
Use the plugin lawfully and respectfully. Do not use it to fabricate quotations, impersonate community authorities, expose confidential information, or evade source restrictions. Follow applicable school policies and OpenAI’s applicable terms.
Availability and limitations
The plugin and linked resources may change or become unavailable. Educational results, uninterrupted access, accuracy, and fitness for a particular purpose are not guaranteed. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.
